Godly Women. Where Have They Gone?
Feb 18, 2019Dear Godly Woman,
Where have you gone? It seems you have been missing for a while, and no matter how hard I look for you, I can’t seem to find you.
Dear Godly Woman,
Have you gotten so far on the other side of the fence that you’ve lost your way back? I’ve always heard, the grass is greener on the other side. Is it true? Is that where you are? Have you been grazing with the roaming cattle and eating the tender grass and herbs of the field?
How is it there? Are you okay? You are missed on this side of the fence. It’s really lonely and dark and cold here without you. I haven’t been able to find another like you to take your place no matter how hard I look.
I used to find you at home caring for the children, preparing home-cooked meals, washing dishes and putting away laundry, making sure the home and the children were taken care of, you were good at putting others before yourself.
But now, you believe the lies of society when they say, “Being a homemaker and a good mother is simply out of date and most assuredly old fashioned.” I guess you must believe them because I never find you at home anymore.
I used to find you teaching and training your children the ways of God, and showing them how to be godly men and woman and how to live a life that is pleasing in the sight of God and others.
You used to teach your children manners, respect, decency, and common courtesies, and the golden rule of how to treat others. “Do unto others as you would have them do unto you.”
Oh, Godly Woman, you used to be a woman I looked up to and I wanted to pattern my life after, but now you no longer stand out in this world but only blend in with the rest. I can’t find you anymore.
I used to find you to be a faithful, kind, and considerate woman, free from gossip and slander, and foul language. Now, I hear words of death and destruction coming out of your mouth.
Your mouth is full of words that tear others down including yourself, your children, and your husband. You are working so hard to undo the things you once believed God to give you. Why? What happened?
Dear Godly Woman,
I used to find you in every church service on the front pews or kneeling at the altars praying for the hearts and souls of others. You were crying out to God to protect your children, your husband, your marriage, and yourself from the wiles of the devil. You used to be a prayer warrior dressed in your orchid and striped dress holding the sword of the spirit in one hand and a tissue in the other, waving it in the air as you brought down Heaven and earth to make sure God heard your prayers.
You didn’t care about your mascara then. All you really cared about was making sure you left your heart and everything in it on the altar.
But now, your skirts are too short, and your blouses are too low to even kneel at the altar. Besides, you don’t need to go to the altar anymore, you are making it just fine on your own. Are you?
Dear Godly Woman,
I used to find you putting an offering in the plate on Sunday morning and planting seeds of faith. But now, you put your offering in the hands of those who can sell you anything and everything to make you feel fulfilled and beautiful. Then you wonder why you never have any money. You used to put God first in your life and acknowledge Him in everything you did.
I used to find you in the church, the schools, the community, and in the workplace making a difference and standing up for righteousness. You used to turn your back on sin and deny ungodliness and worldly lusts and temptations, especially those that would turn your world upside down. Is that where you’ve gone?
Are you upside down in sin and unrighteousness? Have you grown comfortable wearing the garments of filth and rudeness? Will you ever find your way back to uprightness?
Dear Godly Woman,
I want you to know, I will never stop looking for you. I will never stop believing that someday you will once again take your place in this world, and understand the authority you have been given. I believe you are still wearing a crown. It may sit a little crooked on your head, and its sparkle may appear a little dim, but under it is the daughter of God whom He has called to be Royalty.
Yes, you. Don’t run away from who you have been called to be. Instead, recognize the power of your sparkle and how it can make a difference with the light it can bring.
I need you, Godly woman. I need you to teach me to stand up for righteousness and train me in the ways of the Lord. I need you to care for me, cook for me, and tell me I’m worthy to be loved. I need you to show me how to be a good woman, hard-working, thoughtful, and considerate. If you lead, I will follow in your steps.
Without you here, I will have to join you on the other side of the fence and eat of the same tender grasses and herbs as the grazing cattle do. I will have to find my way on my own and struggle through life without ever knowing what my life could have been like with you in it.
Dear Godly Woman, teach me how to live my life for Jesus, so I can one day mention your name and thank Him for sending you to me. The day I finally meet Him face to face in Heaven-what a day that will be.
Sincerely,
Girl of Today
