Life is Like Hairspray

Life is like a can of hairspray...here today and gone the next. A vapor in the wind that is only seen for a moment.  A quick mist.  A morning dew. A morning fog.  All these things have one thing in common...they are temporary.

Our life is also temporary and like a vapor or mist...here today and gone tomorrow.  The bible teaches us that our life is like a vapor.

James 4:14 NKJV
...whereas you do not know what will happen tomorrow. For what is your life? It is even a vapor that appears for a little time and then vanishes away.

I thought of this scripture one day while fixing my hair and spraying it with hairspray.  I'm sure a vapor can be compared to other things as well.  The dictionary defines a vapor as....a substance diffused or suspended in the air.

Whenever we are young we don't realize the importance of life and how short it can be.  It's funny how fast those ideas can change whenever we get older.

Life is truly a gift not only our own but also for the loved ones God places in our life...friends and family.  Every life is a gift. A moment in time. A memory in the making. A story being written.

Are you enjoying your gift...the gift of life the Lord has given?  Are you celebrating the life of others...your friends, your family, your neighbors?

Are you spending time with them before their vapor, their mist disappears in the air?

Don't take life for granted.  Don't anticipate and worry about tomorrow. Enjoy your life even if it isn't perfect but who defines perfect anyway?

Use your life to accomplish great things. Make a difference.

Make time to enjoy your life today, and always make time to help and acknowledge others in your life. Tell your family how much you love them and appreciate them.  Tell them they are special to you and that their life makes yours better.

You never know when they will be called home to glory...and when that happens...you will have wished you would have celebrated life more, said "I love you" more, and appreciated their life more...just like a precious gift.

A gift...something given, something treasured, something remembered.
